Tawoos Industrial Services Company LLC (Tisco) and National Training Institute (NTI) were awarded by the Ministry of Manpower among the companies in the Sultanate with outstanding Omanization programmes for the year 2008.
In a ceremony at Al Bustan Palace, HE Maqbool Bin Ali Bin Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry, presented the awards to the winners. CEO of Renaissance Services, Mr. Stephen Thomas, received the award on behalf of Tisco, while Turkiya Sulieman Al hasni, NTI Human Resources and Administration Manager, received on behalf of NTI.
The Ministry of Manpower also recognized three employees from the group for their long-standing achievements in company loyalty. Yaaqub Al Haddabi and Mahfudh Al Hisni from Renaissance, along with Salma Al Shukery from Tisco have completed over 20 years with their respective groups.
Out of the hundreds of companies in Oman judged for their Omanization programmes only 58 were recognized by the Ministry. This marks the fifth Omanization award for Tisco.
To date, Tisco has total staff strength of 3,858 persons, of which 1,139 or almost 30% are Omani. NTI currently has 39 Omani employees out of a total of 106, nearly 37%.
Tisco is planning to employ a further 354 Omanis in 2009 accounting for approximately 35% of new hires, while NTI is targeting to increase its percentage of Omani employees to 40%.
Renaissance Services and its subsidiary companies are committed to the training and development of an indigenous workforce throughout its operations. Omanization is a core practice for Tisco and the company has long standing Omani employees at every level of the organization since its start 20 years ago.
