Renaissance Emphasizes on Road Safety

Renaissance Services has made a contribution to road and safety awareness in a series of highway signs recently installed at its Permanent Accommodation for Contractors assets (PACs) in Oman’s interior oilfields.

The safety signs have been inspired by PDO’s Life-Saving Rules announced earlier this year among oil and gas service contractors.

Over 20 signs have gone up around the Renaissance PACs operating at Fahud, Nimr and Qarn Alam, and another 10 will be erected at the Renaissance PACs under construction at Marmul and Bahja. The signs have been designed in Arabic and English to reach the workers, residents and visitors of the PAC locations specifically, and the community at large.

The Life-Saving Rules emerged from a comprehensive study of accidents carried out by Shell across companies from around the world. It is accepted worldwide that by following the 12 Life-Saving Rules then near zero accidents and injuries would be the result.

Three of the 12 Life-Saving Rules emphasize road safety practices. Road accidents are a leading cause of avoidable fatalities in Oman as well as the primary cause of accidents in the oilfields. According to the national statistics, a yearly average of nearly 3 deaths occurs each day on Oman’s roads.
